Through the desert of Utah and Nevada.
July 23, 2009
Two years ago William and I took a trip to Wilmington ,North Carolina to help our friend Tricia Hoen sell her red truck. We stayed in Wilmington for two weeks before finding a ride home through a family friend driving an 18-wheeler back and forth from New Jersey down to Myrtle Beach. We reached home infected with the bug for being on the road. From there the dreams of a cross country bicycle trip where born.
Now we find ourselves thousands of miles from home. We all made the decision to avoid the desert with its treacherous terrain and climate.

Boy does this look familiar! Joel and I just drove across Idaho and saw those wind mills too! We were on Highway 80 and then on 84. We’re heading to Portland, Oregon and will be there tomorrow. Perhaps we’ll catch up with you on our return? Email us at pschroe2@gmail.com and we’ll try to find you!
Glad you decided to avoid the dessert!
Great pics…even better decision.
I’m making 2 donations to the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey today. The first is for $200 — which represents ten cents per mile for the 2,000 miles you rode!! The second is for $250, which Emily and I collected from friends and family.
I’m proud of you for making it to all the way to Colorado and glad that you made the decision to be safe.
Enjoy your stay in California! I hope we’ll see more blog entries from there.
